I am currently an Auxiliary Researcher at the Smarter Cities Research Center (Ci2), Polytechnic Institute of Tomar (IPT). I am also a member of the Centre for Informatics and Systems of the University of Coimbra (CISUC), belonging to the Cognitive and Media Systems (CMS) group and the MIR lab.

I hold a Ph.D. in Information Science and Technology by the University of Coimbra (UC), and previously worked as Assistant Professor (non-tenure) (Professor Adjunto Convidado) and Teaching Assistant at IPT. I have also been a grant holder at CISUC, as well as the Portuguese FCT.

My main research interests connect machine learning, affective computing and music, namely in the fields of Music Emotion Recognition (MER) and Music Information Retrieval (MIR). Additionally, I work on applied research projects dealing with machine learning and software development patterns applied to different problems, from health/well-being to tourism data.

Some of my other interests range from physical exercise, comics, hiking, photography, genealogy, and obviously spending time in nerd side projects such as TOSEC (The Old School Emulation Center).
